Promoting Your Show
Promote, promote, promote!!! We encourage you to promote your show! Print up posters, email your contacts, send out press releases, give out postcards at the Festival Tent (where the box office will be), and give radio interviews. Think of a 10 second elevator speech that will grab people's attention if they ask you about the show.
The Seven Things that Must Appear on Your Promotional Materials
- The Fringe logo. You can download the logo here
- The Fringe Web site: www.nofringe.org
- The name of your show.
- Your performance dates and times.
- Your venue name and location.
-
Ticket price: $7 available at the door or in advance at www.nofringe.org. Tickets purchased at TicketWeb.com are general admission tickets for any Fringe show. You are welcome to include the TicketWeb.com logo on your materials as well (but it is not required)
- Something to make people want to see your show. This includes your blurb, review quotes, and an image. Ideally the image is the same one that you sent us for the progam, but it doesn't have to be.
Festival Programs
It is a great idea to create a programs for your show to give to audience members. Include performer information, bios and your Web site. You are welcome to sell advertisements in the programs (some groups finance all of their production costs this way!).
Press Blurb
Need a quick blurb to include in your press releases about the Fringe? Rip this off!
The New Orleans Fringe Festival, November 11-15, will be an extraordinary five days of theater, performance art and spectacle. Forty groups from around the country and New Orleans will be presenting over 120 shows in venues across the city. The shows include the exotic, the dramatic and the insane: drama, dance, one-person shows, cabaret, comedy, puppetry, clowning, improvisational, aerialist and many other creative works.
Venues include traditional theaters as well as unusual spaces: Marigny Theatre, Sidearm Gallery, Hi-Ho Lounge, Church of the Fringe, Skull Club, Peter's Piano Place, Backyard Ballroom and others. All performances are $7 each and run between 30 and 60 minutes. Tickets are available online at www.nofringe.org, at the door before each show, or at the Fringe Festival Tent during the festival. The Fringe Festival Tent is the heart of the Festival; it is a big-top where audience members and performers can mingle over refreshments, read audience reviews, and enjoy free entertainment; it will be located at the corner of Press and Dauphine Streets in the Marigny. Other free Fringe activities during the Festival include a Paint Party by NOLA Rising, Buskers Happy Hour on November 14th and 15th, Festival Party on November 13th, the Goodchildren Social Aid and Pleasure Club Fringe Parade down St. Claude at 3 pm on Saturday November 14th.
